Newsletter 1 February 2007
1. The Main points from the 2006 Annual General
Meeting
1) So as to align the Association's
rules with those of the Environment Agency the minimum size for
trout has been raised from 190mm (7.5 inches) to 200mm (8 inches).
2) The Association is now charged
VAT on its rent payments to the Penrhyn Estate. This has increased
the Association's costs considerably, it is therefore inevitable
that the price of the permit must be raised, fortunately there
has been an increase in the number of members during the last
few years therefore the increase is a moderate one. The price
of the following permits will go up by £2. Adults £68,
Pensioner £43, Concession £68.
3) An increasing number of our younger members are staying on
in full time education after the age of 16. It has therefore been
agreed to extend the junior permits from 16 to 18. The price of
the junior permits will remain the same as last year, 12 to 18
£25, under 12 £10.
4) The single free evening ticket
for the boats on Llyn Ogwen will be available again this year
to adult members; the rules for the use of the ticket remain the
same as last year.
i) Pre booking of a boat with the free ticket will not be allowed.
ii) Priority will be given to those purchasing a boat ticket.
iii) The free ticket may only be used once. The ticket will be
signed at Ogwen Falls café to show that it
has been used when you collect the key for the boat.

We would like to thank Alan Davies for the junior cash prizes.
5. The Eryl Jones Cup
The family of the late Eryl Jones have presented a cup to the
Association in his memory.
Eryl took great delight in fly fishing for wild brown trout; therefore
it has been decided to hold a fly fishing competition towards
the end of July in Llyn Idwal. There will be more information
in the summer newsletter.
6. Stocking
Stocking at Llyn Ogwen should take place during the last week
of the following months -
March, April, May, June and July.
7. Rubbish
The Association has received complaints that some of our members
are leaving litter on the banks, especially
power bait containers at Llyn Ogwen. Could all members ensure
that they collect all their litter and dispose of it
in a responsible manner.
